Oxmarket are delighted to welcome back Martyn Jones with his exhibition - Wanderlust in the Wilson Gallery. Martyn Jones is a contemporary painter based in Cardiff, Wales. He studied for an MA in Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art, London, and was awarded a Junior Fellowship at Bath Academy of Art, where his tutors included the influential British artists Patrick Heron and Adrian Heath. His work is held in public and private collections across Europe and the USA.

Working primarily in abstraction, Jones draws inspiration from the natural world and his experiences of everyday life. Using a personal visual language of shapes, colour and form, his paintings explore the beauty and ambiguity of the world around him.

His work seeks to evoke a sense of the grandiose and sublime, reflecting his ongoing search for tranquillity, transcendence and a sense of the timeless. Each painting develops intuitively, with instinct and sensibility guiding the process. The resulting works invite viewers to engage with them openly, finding their own responses and interpretations.
